Auto-step active after choosing Attach Debugger [fatal]

Symptom

The Auto Step action is active after attaching to the target using Debug > Attach Debugger.  Choosing Auto Step in this state, with the target still running, causes CrossStudio to crash with an unrecoverable error.

Workaround

Click Debug > Break (Ctrl+.) after attaching the debugger and before using auto step.
