Rust
Mozilla's Rust language (https://www.rust-lang.org) seems like it could become a contender in the bare metal embedded world. Off course these things are hard to predict but at least from a technical point of view this new language seems like it could be a proper replacement for C/C++. It already cross compiles to ARM. Performance wise it is comparable to C/C++, although I understand that the size of the compiled binaries is still on the largish side.
It'd be really cool to see some support for it in an IDE geared towards embedded product development. Perhaps an opportunity for Crossworks to differentiate themselves from the competition? :-)
