Debug mode, unable to set any breakpoints in .cpp window

When  I attempt to debug or step through programs, the GUI switches to a assembler view and steps through the assembly code.

Is there anyway that I can set breakpoints on the C code? When I attempt to do that and run, they all turn to question marks. 

 

Hopefully I am doing something wrong and do not have to single step through assembler to debug my code.

  Are you building your project in a Debug configuration, or in a Release configuration?  What you describe sounds like a Release configuration build, when you are desiring a Debug build.
