Retaining custom target settings when updating CrossWorks

I've created a target setting for my device. However, when I update CrossWorks, it overwrites the settings.xml file which holds the target settings and so my settings are lost.

To work around this, I've saved off a copy of the target settings and then after an update, I add them to the proper section in settings.xml.

Is there a mechanism that allows updates to not lose the user define target settings?

  I don't think the CrossWorks installer touches the settings.xml file at all.

  Could you describe in more detail what you are doing so we can reproduce the problem?

  Hi Jon,  I've had a similar discussion with a couple of the guys in the past and I was told to copy my settings.xml, install the upgrade, and copy settings.xml back.  I did notice that with the most recent upgrade to 2.0.9 my JTAG target configurations were not removed so I'd been wondering if that was a recent fix.  I have five customised JTAG devices (different serials etc) and would have to recreate them with each install...  it's possible this has now been resolved.  But it definitely use to be a problem.

  It seems that the new installer (in 2.0.10) that I tried, didn't do this.
