I am currently trialling Crossworks on the Mac. Generally very happy with the product. Prior to making my mind up though, I just upgraded my machine to Sno Leopard and everything went a bit bad.
Well, not everything but now I get huge delays whenever I try to do anything in, or which affects, an editing window. That includes dialogs that overlay the edit window. With no edit windows open it is reasonably fast. I had Activity Monitor running while this was going on and it shows that the delays correspond to fontd starting for the duration of the delay and taking up all the available processor time. Meanwhile, the Crossworks process shows as unresponsive. Simply moving the cursor or typing a character in the edit window casues this to happen and the delay can be for ten seconds or more. This makes even my typing a bit sluggish.
the issue is not easily reproducible and may occur after pasting in text from the clipboard which, by the way, seems to cheerfully ignore line breaks. It may be after inserting unicode text from the clipboard or opening unicode files. The Mac is quite good at hiding the exact flavour of the text file so I cannot be entirely certain.
My Crossworks version is 2009081701.5509
