Project converter for IAR and, perhaps, Keil projects [Imported Thread]

Adding a project converter from IAR to CW adds the possibility for easy testing these libraries.

We are already working on importing Eclipse projects into CrossWorks. We are also working on getting ST to generate CrossWorks project files using STM32Cube. So, there is light at the end of the tunnel...

This is a very good idea. I am currently working with STM32CubeMX which has no ability to export a CrossWorks project. If manipulating the generated IAR or KEIL projects becomes too labor intensive, we plan to switch to the KEIL compiler.

It's not an easy thing to do in general, but we could do an automated conversion as best we can. For ARM I think it might be almost impossible. Having looked at the IAR project file, it's not as difficult as I expected.

An alternate would be to convince vendors to release with a Crossworks project like they do Keil and IAR. Maybe some under the table payments will be required . Seriously - when (for example) ST released the new ver 3.0 firmware library code for STM32 eval board it came with IAR and Keil and Ride projects. Did ST engineers do that or do IAR, Keil, etc. do that sort of thing as a 'service' to promote their tools ?
